Grandfather Time

I once visited a store that sold dinette sets. The owner, Dick, and I became fast friends as we both realized that our business models were very similar. ME, WE, THEY, and US were words we used to describe the life journey of our customers and how life and business worked together. I was a repeat customer at this store over the years. I never went anywhere else.

Recently, my oldest daughter told me I was going to be a grandfather. WOW! My first thought was I’m not old enough to be a grandfather!

My thoughts turned quickly to what the future holds for her on this new parent journey that I had begun so long ago.

Later in the weekend, a conversation came up about how space was going to be tight with a baby in their condo. She bought the condo when she was single (ME). She got married and added her husband to her address (WE). She is now staring at the third leg of her journey (THEY).

I haven’t thought about Dick, the owner of Dine and Recline in some time. He definitely understood how life and his business came together.
