Housing Halloween Oct 26 Written By John Coor When I was little, I remember being very scared of Halloween night. The night was dark. Costumes were frightening, and your parents warned of dangers that could be lurking. As I got older, the prospect of a never-ending sugar buzz made the night go from frightful and “unknown” to one of the best nights of a kid’s life! Here in the mortgage business, Halloween started back in February/March. Mortgage rates have been spooking folks with rates on a steady climb as they now hover near 7%. Just like Halloween, how you approach the mortgage market changes - you may fear it at first, but after a while you change into your favorite costume and go out and get the candy that is waiting for you out there. Housing Halloween is underway and you may find it’s a sweet time to get a nice haul. My guess is that with more inventory and soon, lower prices, it may not be that scary after all! John Coor
