The 500 mph your plane is travelling to get you to your destination seems to accelerate the closer you get to the ground. Your field of view narrows and your visual perception makes the terrain and buildings appear to move faster than when you were at cruising altitude.

The shift in the housing market in recent months has been a bit like landing at an airport.
